Hiking in Eifgenbachtal, Altenberg

The valleys of the Eifgenbach and Dhünn rivers in the Bergisches Land are surprisingly wild and yet easy to reach.

From Altenberg, you start upstream through the Eifgenbach valley. Here it is worth branching off from the main trail and exploring the paths along the riverbank. Depending on how long you want to walk, you can branch off to the right at various points and reach the Linnefe valley via the hill or via Dabringhausen.

Downstream, you first follow the Linnefe and later the Dhünn back to Altenberg. Towards the end of the tour, you can stop off at the Brunnenhaus for a delicious cake and coffee - or even a cappuccino with oat milk. If you take the long route via Dabringhausen (18km), you will also pass the less hip but traditional pancake mill.
